The funding supports coordination with local law enforcement, training for officers on prevention of student violence, placement of metal detectors and other deterrent measures, acquisition and installation of emergency notification technology, and other security improvements approved by the COPS Office Director. Valle Lindo School District, a local government school district based in South El Monte, California, serves as the recipient and is responsible for implementing these improvements across its jurisdiction.

The award period runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2028. Recipients must submit semiannual programmatic performance reports and quarterly SF-425 federal financial reports, with a final closeout report due at project completion. The COPS Office conducts award monitoring through site visits, office-based reviews, and periodic surveys to ensure compliance with programmatic and financial requirements, nonsupplanting provisions, and consistency between purchased items and services and the approved budget. Extensions up to 12 additional months may be granted on a case-by-case basis when requested before or immediately after the scheduled end date.

Funding under this award program will be used by the school jurisdiction to implement evidence-based programs to improve school security.
