This $20,000,000 federal Project Grant award from the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program (CFDA 66.616) supports the implementation of the Elm City Collaborative (EC3) project by the City of New Haven, Connecticut and its partner the Greater Dwight Development Corporation (GDDC).
Over a 3-year period from April 2025 to March 2028, the EC3 project will deploy 4 interconnected strategies across 14 disadvantaged neighborhoods in New Haven to address community infrastructure, housing, materials management, and transportation. Key activities include establishing climate resilience corridors, expanding community gardens, facilitating energy efficiency upgrades for affordable housing, enhancing food recovery and composting, and increasing bike infrastructure and safety education. The project will also provide workforce training, create green jobs, and monitor local air quality. GDDC will manage a small building energy efficiency upgrades program and offer mini-grants to community groups for climate and pollution reduction initiatives.
