About this award

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded the McKeesport Housing Authority $250,000 on August 3, 2026, under the Public Housing Capital Fund (CFDA 14.872) to address capital needs for safety and security emergencies in public housing.

The funding supports one-time assistance for safety and security measures that address emergency needs unable to be absorbed within the recipient's annual capital fund grant, including measures to address crime and drug-related activity. The award covers capital improvements at the McKeesport Housing Authority's properties in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, with a period of performance through August 2, 2028.

This is a formula grant drawn from HUD's emergency and non-presidentially declared natural disaster set-aside. The Public Housing Capital Fund program distributes capital funds annually to public housing agencies for modernization, development, and management activities serving low-income residents. Awards under the emergency safety and security set-aside are distributed through lottery due to high demand and are capped at $250,000 per recipient per federal fiscal year. Eligible safety and security emergencies must occur within the same fiscal year for which funding is requested. The McKeesport Housing Authority is ineligible to receive additional safety and security funding for the same development or developments covered by this award.
