About this award

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public and Indian Housing Office awarded the Housing Authority City of Linden $250,000 on August 3, 2026, through the Public Housing Capital Fund (CFDA 14.872) formula grant program to address capital needs for safety and security emergencies in its public housing inventory.

The award funds one-time assistance for safety and security items that address emergency needs within the Housing Authority's annual capital fund grant capacity constraints. The funding covers measures to address crime and drug-related activity and other safety and security emergencies occurring within the same federal fiscal year in which the grant funds are requested. The Housing Authority is a municipal public housing authority in Linden, New Jersey, that operates and maintains federal public housing units serving low-income residents.

The award has a period of performance through August 2, 2028, and performance takes place in Linden, New Jersey. The $250,000 represents the maximum allowable grant award amount under the emergency and non-presidentially declared natural disaster set-aside, which HUD allocated through lottery selection due to high demand. HUD limited eligible PHAs to one Safety and Security grant application per federal fiscal year and barred PHAs from receiving funds for the same development previously funded under this set-aside.
