Description
The purpose of this funding is to assist states in carrying out cooperative extension service (CES) programs designed to assist forest and range landowners and managers in making resource management decisions based on research findings. Forest and rangeland resources include vegetation, water, fisheries and wildlife, soil, and recreation. Proposed extension programs must address the goals of the RREA: to provide for an expanded and comprehensive extension program for forest and rangeland renewable resources. Below is a list of eligible forestry and rangelands extension programs as outlined by RREA. Nifa invites applications that address one or more of these priority areas. 1. Extension educational programs that enable individuals to recognize, analyze, and resolve problems related to renewable resources, including forest- and range-based outdoor recre ation opportunities, and agroforestry systems. 2. Extension educational programs that disseminate the results of renewable resources research to forest and rangeland owners. 3. Extension educational programs that transfer the best available technology to those involved in the management and protection of forests and rangelands and in the processing and use of their associated renewable resources. 4. Extension educational programs that focus on small, private, non-industrial forest landowners and rangeland owners as they manage renewable resources including, but not limited to trees, water, range, and fish and wildlife. 5. Extension educational programs that provide continuing education for professionals in fish and wildlife, forest, range, watershed management, and related fields. 6. Extension educational programs that assist forest and range landowners in securing technical and financial assistance. 7. Extension educational programs that provide comprehensive natural resource education for landowners, managers, and the general public, with particular emphasis on youth.
