About this award

The Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture awarded Clemson University $1,603,724 under the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (CFDA 10.514) on October 1, 2025.

EFNEP delivers hands-on nutrition education in four core areas to limited-resource adult and youth audiences: diet quality and physical activity, food resource management, food safety, and food security. The program aims to increase participants' knowledge of nutritional essentials, improve their ability to select and purchase nutritionally adequate food, enhance food production and preparation practices, strengthen food budget management, and increase physical activity rates. Performance occurs at Clemson, South Carolina through September 30, 2030.

As a formula grant to an eligible 1862 land-grant institution, this award supports EFNEP's extension-based community outreach model, which combines hands-on learning and applied science to serve participants across the 50 states, territories, and District of Columbia. The program focuses on advancing self-sufficiency, nutritional health, and overall family wellbeing among low-income populations.
