Description
To address the changing climate and bolster america's agricultural landscape, ndsu extension is dedicated to advancing sustainable a gricultural practices that enhance productivity while mitigating the environmental impact of food production and energy use. Our educators will utilize a variety of outreach methods including field days, winter meetings, cafe talks, topic specific tours, seminars, publications, videos, and both traditional and social media to provide comprehensive education on these practices. Our goal is to raise awareness, build knowledge, and facilitate behavioral changes that lead to the adoption of climate-friendly practices. This will involve land reclamation and restoration, environmentally sound food production, and enhanced food security. Key beneficiaries include farmers, ranchers, agricultural professionals, and related stakeholders. By focusing on best management practices for a range of crops such as wheat, soybean, corn, canola, various beans, and more and livestock-including beef, swine, poultry, sheep lamb, and dairy we aim to improve crop and animal production across 27.9 million acres of cropland. Our educational activities will span workshops, meetings, field days, and both in-person and virtual programs. We anticipate outcomes such as increased profitability and sustainability for farms and ranches, greater adoption of innovative practices, enhanced community resilience, reduced environmental footprints, and improved quality of life for agricultural professionals. Additionally, our education will cover market dynamics, price risk management, and strategic marketing to foster an equitable and competitive agricultural marketplace. Through workshops and pre sentations, we will enable producers to implement effective marketing strategies and risk management tools, leading to greater financial stability and profitability. We are committed to providing all americans with safe, nutritious food by promoting healthy eating and physical activity through various programs and initiatives. Participants including consumers, food pantries, and school lunch programs will benefit from improved health and access to nutritious meals. We also prioritize youth education through 4-H programs, with a goal of engaging one in five north dakota youth in development programs to prepare them for future work and life challenges. To support a dedicated workforce, we will invest in our employees to enhance job satisfaction and the quality of our research, teaching, and extension services. This investment will ensure a strong, motivated team capable of delivering exceptional support and education to clientele and stakeholders. In summary, our work aims to create a resilient, sustainable agricultural system that benefits producers, consumers, and the broader community.
