About this award

The Louisiana State University Agricultural Center (LSU AgCenter) was awarded a $2.2 million Formula Grant from the United States Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture to administer the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2026.

As the designated state administrator of EFNEP, the LSU AgCenter will deliver nutrition education to low-income families and youth across Louisiana. The goal of EFNEP, as outlined in the CFDA, is to increase the impact of nutrition education provided to low-income audiences through hands-on learning experiences. Specifically, the LSU AgCenter will target two at-risk groups - families and youth - to teach practical nutrition education skills that can be applied to establishing healthy eating habits on a limited budget.
