CBITD WILL BE PROVIDING A LOCAL SHARE OF 15% FOR $641329. (PACTS SPLIT LETTERS ATTACHED). THESE GRANT FUNDS ARE THE FINAL FUNDING TO BE USED TO BUILD A NEW VESSEL TO DO WHAT THE MACHIGONNE FERRY CURRENTLY DOES SERVICING PEAKS ISLAND. THE MACHIGONNE IS BEYOND ITS USEFUL LIFE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CASCO BAY ISLAND TRANSIT DISTRICTS TRANSIT ASSET MANAGEMENT GOALS AND PLAN DATED SEPTEMBER 2022 (ATTACHED). THIS GRANT IS FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE HIGHER THAN EXPECTED COST OF THE RENOVATION DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND THE INCREASED COST OF CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIAL. THE SCOPE HAS NOT CHANGED FROM THE ORIGINAL APPLICATION. THE USEFUL LIFE IS PLANNED FOR 30 YEARS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CBITDS TAM. THE VESSEL WILL BE COMPLIANT WITH THE CLEAN AIR ACT AND WITH THE PROPOSED PASSENGER VESSEL ADA GUIDELINES. FUNDING WILL SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THE SAFE MOVEMENT OF PASSENGERS FREIGHT AND VEHICLE AROUND THE PORTLAND MAINE TERMINAL ACCOMMODATING THE CONTINUAL GROWTH OF OVERALL TRAFFIC.; INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: CBITD PASSENGERS INCLUDING ISLAND RESIDENTS COMMUTERS CONTRACTORS AND SCHOOL CHILDREN WILL CONTINUE TO BENEFIT FROM CONTINUING SERVICES OF THE PASSENGER FERRIES; SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES: NONE
