The Department of Defense's Defense Health Agency awarded a $1,187,855 Project Grant under the Military Medical Research and Development (CFDA 12.420) program to the Arizona Veterans Research And Education Foundation. The grant funding will support the development and evaluation of a virtual reality-based cognitive rehabilitation application for veterans with a history of traumatic brain injury. The project aims to leverage advanced virtual reality technology to deliver targeted cognitive training and rehabilitation services to improve spatial navigation and related cognitive functions for this patient population. The 3-year project will be conducted at the foundation's facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by August 31, 2027.
