Description
SCEO's mission is to advance south carolina's energy strategy and policy while promoting the efficient use of all energy sources. SCEO plans to utilize funds provided through the training for residential energy contractors (TREC) grant program to train, test, and certify 330 residential energy efficiency and electrification workers, split evenly between new and existing workers, focusing at least half its resources on training new workers, especially from disadvantaged communities, within the 48-month timeframe. SCEO will accomplish these goals by collaborating with an implementing partner through a competitive subgrant process. The subgrantee will be responsible for developing and implementing a clean energy workforce training program which equips new and existing workers with the skills and certificates they need to effectively contribute to south carolina's growing clean energy economy. SCEO will administer a process to seek a subgrantee that will be responsible for recruiting highly motivated and qualified participants from in and around the community of interest. SCEO will incorporate community and labor feedback into project and program plans by soliciting feedback from its workforce advisory group. This group comprises government, non-profit, and private sector entities from around south carolina with a wealth of experience relevant to the TREC program. SCEO will leverage the networks of both its workforce advisory group members, as well as its subgrantee, to establish and maintain strong and enduring partnerships with employers.
