About this award
Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 awarded $331,500 to the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi on April 1, 2026, under the Performance Partnership Grants program (CFDA 66.605) to operate the tribe's continuing environmental programs through March 31, 2030.
The tribe will protect and maintain water quality, establish and enhance a brownfields site response program with four core elements, and prevent and control surface and groundwater pollution from point and non-point sources on the Huron Potawatomi Reservation in Fulton, Michigan. Work includes building environmental program infrastructure, developing administrative, technical, legal, enforcement, and communications capacity, and establishing environmental education and outreach needed to implement EPA environmental programs through delegation, certification, approval, and authorization. The Performance Partnership Grants structure provides the tribe flexibility to address its highest environmental priorities, achieve administrative savings, and strengthen its partnership with EPA through a single application, budget, and consolidated work plan rather than separate submissions for each eligible program component.
