About this award
The Federal Highway Administration awarded the Idaho Department of Transportation $555,614.69 on May 19, 2026, under the Bridge Formula Program (CFDA 20.263) to replace the Three Mile Creek Bridge on Lukes Gulch Road in Idaho County, Idaho.
The project replaces a bridge built in 1965 that is structurally compromised and poses safety risks. The existing steel girders exhibit scattered surface corrosion, and the metal bridge railings—29-inch galvanized W-rail with steel posts—are in poor condition from collision damage. The new bridge will be 36 feet wide and positioned adjacent downstream to improve approach geometry and enhance safety and security for users. Performance of work extends through August 30, 2033, and takes place in Idaho.
The Bridge Formula Program, authorized under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, apportions funds to states via formula based on the relative costs of replacing bridges in poor condition and rehabilitating bridges in fair condition. Funds support highway bridge replacement, rehabilitation, preservation, protection, or construction projects on public roads.
