About this award
The Federal Highway Administration awarded the Idaho Department of Transportation $185,815.31 on May 19, 2026, under the Bridge Formula Program (CFDA 20.263) to replace the Three Mile Creek Bridge on Lukes Gulch Road in Idaho County, Idaho.
The project replaces a bridge built in 1965 that has reached structural compromise. The existing 58-year-old bridge exhibits scattered surface corrosion on steel girders and deteriorated metal railings and posts in poor condition, including damage from collision crashes, creating safety deficiencies for users. The replacement bridge will be 36 feet wide and positioned downstream from the existing structure to improve approach geometry and alignment.
The award obligates $185,815.31 with an ultimate completion date of August 30, 2033. Work is performed in Idaho County, Idaho, as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act's Bridge Formula Program, which funds highway bridge replacement, rehabilitation, preservation, protection, or construction on public roads through apportionment to states based on the relative costs of replacing bridges in poor condition and rehabilitating those in fair condition.

The metal bridge railings are 29-inch galvanized W-rail and steel posts are in poor condition, the damage is partially due to collision crashes. The current bridge provides little safety and security to its users.
