About this award
The Federal Highway Administration awarded the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation $1,835,996 on February 3, 2026, under the Bridge Formula Program (CFDA 20.263) for replacement of a bridge on State Route 1015 over Field Brook Creek in Nicholson Township, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania.
The project replaces an existing bridge with a two-lane structure carrying two ten-foot lanes and two three-foot shoulders, spanning 320.86 linear feet. Work includes approximately 300 feet of full-depth paving on roadway approaches and replacement of a 30-inch corrugated metal pipe. The utility coordination effort requires relocation of an existing 6-inch Sunoco gas transmission line. The bridge is anticipated to close during the 2026 construction season for approximately three months, with traffic detoured via a 14.5-mile route using State Roads 0092, 1011 (West Nicholson Road), 2001, and 2003. Access to driveways and businesses within and near the work area will remain open during construction.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, a state government agency and division of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, receives the award. Ultimate completion is scheduled for May 3, 2028. The Bridge Formula Program apportions federal funding to the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico via a formula based on the relative costs of replacing bridges classified as in poor condition and rehabilitating bridges classified as in fair condition. Funds must be used for highway bridge replacement, rehabilitation, preservation, protection, or construction projects on public roads.
