The Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Service awarded the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development in Massachusetts $1.63 million under the Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program on October 1, 2025, as a formula grant to support employment services for veterans.
The funding supports Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists, Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVER), and consolidated DVOP/LVER staff operating in American Job Centers across Massachusetts. DVOP specialists deliver individualized career services to veterans with significant employment barriers, with emphasis on economically or educationally disadvantaged veterans. LVER staff conduct outreach to employers and business associations, advocating with hiring executives to increase employment opportunities for veterans and encourage the hiring of disabled veterans. Consolidated-position staff serve in both roles simultaneously. JVSG-funded staff prepare veterans and transitioning service members for meaningful careers, provide employment resources and expertise, and promote employment opportunities for service-connected special disabled veterans, other disabled veterans, economically or educationally disadvantaged veterans, homeless veterans, and veterans with other significant barriers to employment.
The period of performance runs from October 1, 2025 through December 31, 2027. The award is a formula grant with no sub-awards; the recipient state workforce agency retains all funds for direct operation of these employment services.
