About this award

The Nevada Department of Employment, Rehabilitation & Employment Security Division received $1.61M in formula grant funding from the Department of Labor's Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) under the Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program (CFDA 17.801), effective October 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027. This award funds three core staffing positions within American Job Centers throughout Nevada to deliver employment services to veterans and transitioning service members. Specifically, the grant supports Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists who provide individualized career services to veterans with significant employment barriers, particularly those who are economically or educationally disadvantaged; Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVER) staff who conduct outreach to employers and advocacy efforts to increase hiring of veterans; and consolidated DVOP/LVER staff serving in a dual capacity.

The JVSG program serves eligible veterans including service-connected special disabled veterans, other disabled veterans, economically or educationally disadvantaged veterans, homeless veterans, and veterans with other significant barriers to employment. JVSG-funded staff prepare veterans for meaningful careers by providing employment resources, expertise, and career development services through Nevada's workforce system. As a formula grant to a state workforce agency, this award does not involve subawards, and the state has up to three fiscal years to expend the annual allocation in accordance with 38 U.S.C. Chapter 41 and applicable Department of Labor regulations.
