About this award

The Montana Department of Labor and Industry received a $1,158,554 formula grant award from the Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Service under the Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program (CFDA 17.801), effective October 1, 2025 through December 31, 2027. This funding supports three core staffing positions within American Job Centers across Montana: Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists who deliver individualized career services to veterans with significant employment barriers, Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVER) who conduct employer outreach and advocacy to increase veteran hiring opportunities, and consolidated DVOP/LVER staff serving in a dual capacity. The program prioritizes service to economically or educationally disadvantaged veterans, service-connected disabled veterans, homeless veterans, and other veterans facing substantial barriers to employment.

As the state workforce agency designated by the Governor, Montana Department of Labor and Industry directly administers this formula grant without subawards, utilizing JVSG funds to support employment preparation, job search assistance, career counseling, and skills development services for eligible veterans and transitioning service members throughout the state. Grant recipients are required to maintain cost accounting, timekeeping, and performance records in accordance with the grant agreement and applicable federal regulations, with up to three fiscal years available to expend each annual allocation.
