About this award

The Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) awarded the South Carolina Department of Employment & Workforce a formula grant of $1,430,842 under the Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program (CFDA 17.801), effective October 1, 2025 through December 31, 2027. This funding supports three core staffing positions within American Job Centers across South Carolina: Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists who deliver individualized career services to veterans with significant employment barriers; Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVER) who conduct employer outreach and advocacy to increase veteran hiring opportunities; and consolidated DVOP/LVER staff serving in dual capacities.

Services are targeted toward service-connected special disabled veterans, other disabled veterans, economically or educationally disadvantaged veterans, homeless veterans, and veterans with other significant barriers to employment. DVOP specialists emphasize support for economically or educationally disadvantaged populations, while LVER staff engage directly with hiring executives and business associations to create employment opportunities. As the state workforce agency, the South Carolina Department of Employment & Workforce administers these grant funds directly without subawards, preparing veterans and transitioning service members for meaningful careers through comprehensive employment resources and expertise.
