The Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) of the U.S. Department of Labor awarded the Technical College System of Georgia a formula grant totaling $2,621,952 under the Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program (CFDA 17.801), effective October 1, 2025, through December 31, 2027. This award funds three core staffing positions within American Job Centers across Georgia: Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists who deliver individualized career services to veterans with significant employment barriers; Local Veterans' Employment Representatives (LVER) who conduct employer outreach and advocacy to increase hiring opportunities for veterans; and consolidated DVOP/LVER staff serving in dual capacity roles. The program prioritizes service delivery to economically or educationally disadvantaged veterans, service-connected disabled veterans, homeless veterans, and veterans with other significant employment barriers.
As a state workforce agency, the Technical College System of Georgia does not subaward JVSG funds and maintains direct responsibility for program delivery across the state. Grant recipients are required to maintain cost accounting records, timekeeping documentation, and performance metrics in accordance with grant agreements and federal Veterans' Program Letters, with up to three fiscal years permitted to expend each annual allocation.
