Description
Funds made available through the title II formula grants program support various state and local efforts throughout tennessee (TN) to develop programs with a focus on delinquency prevention, substance and alcohol abuse, racial and ethnic disparities and juvenile justice system improvements efforts. Funding is provided statewide to private/non-profit organizations and public entities for the purpose of addressing and reducing juvenile delinquency. The service poplulation includes youth 18 years and younger. The tennessee commission on children and youth (tccy) believes early intervention measures will assist in the expected outcome of diverting youth from juvenile justice system involvement by providing community-based alternatives. Identified program purpose areas for this three-year plan are: planning and administration, state advisory group (SAG), compliance monitoring, delinquency prevention, juvenile justice system improvement, racial and ethnic disparities (r/ED) and substance and alcohol abuse. A survey was distributed to seek input from youth currently under the jurisdiction of the juvenile justice system and the responses along with an analysis of youth crime data in TN helped in developing the state's proposed plan. Tccy juvenile justice staff and regional coordinators monitor adult jails and lockups and secure detention and correctional facilities to ensure compliance with the juvenile justice reform act (jjra) 2018 core requirements. TN remails in compliance with the four core requirements. No portion of the project budget will be used to conduct research.
