Description

The arizona juvenile justice commission (AJJC) and the arizona governor's office of youth, faith and family (GOYFF) are committed to continuing efforts of collaboration and coordination within arizona's juvenile justice system by directing available state and federal resources to respond appropriately and effectively to the needs of at-risk and delinquent youth and their families, while promoting public safety. The overall intent of the AJJC is to uphold the core requirements of the juvenile justice and delinquency prevention act (JJDPA) and support a seamless continuum of delinquency prevention, intervention and accountability services throughout the state. In order to achieve these goals, GOYFF, with support from the AJJC, will distribute the 2021 award across several program areas including: compliance monitoring, delinquency prevention, alternatives to detention, reentry and mental health and substance abuse services. By focusing on these core program areas, increasing collaboration with arizona's tribal communities and continuing to promote best practices that are evidence-based and trauma-informed, the three-year plan strives to address statewide needs in order to enhance arizona's response to juvenile delinquency. The state of arizona remains unwavering in its duty to uphold the core principles of the jjdp act. Through achievement of the included goals and objectives in the three-year plan, the state will continue support and implement a fair, safe and accountable juvenile justice system that improves outcomes for youth, families and communities.
