Tribal domestic violence and sexual assault program

The Native Women's Society of the Great Plains was awarded a $341,347 Formula Grant from the Department of Justice Offices Boards and Divisions Office on Violence Against Women under the Tribal Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalitions Grant Program (CFDA 16.557). The grant period is from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.

Under this grant, the Native Women's Society of the Great Plains will work to increase awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault against American Indian and Alaska Native women in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. Specifically, the organization will enhance responses to violence at the tribal, federal, and state levels. Activities will also seek to identify needs and barriers to addressing domestic violence in Native communities. The funding supports the Tribal Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalitions Grant Program's goals of preventing occurrences of domestic and sexual violence and enhancing intervention and response.
