Description

OPT. Numerical code to solve dynamic structural failure problems present in a variety of DOD platforms and in structures found in civil, structural, energy and aerospace industries. 1)the participant will use the thermo-fracture phase-field code he developed within the fenics numerical framework, and transition IT to the the fenicsx top. OPT. Numerical framework to enable topological optimization of multimaterial structures and mitigate fracture failure. 2)the participant will interact with experimentalists to validate the numerically optimized multimaterial solutions. The data will be provided using experimental facilities at APG (e.g., kolsky bars, instron, DIC, and CT technologies). The participant will use this data and the commercial matchid software to propose and fit constitutive and fracture models for these multimaterials. 3)the participant will document his research in an ARL-TR, journal, and/or conference.
