EAST VALLEY WATER DISTRICT (EVWD), LOCATED IN THE SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA,WILL DEVELOP A DROUGHT CONTINGENCY PLAN (DCP) TO HELP INCREASE WATER SUPPLY RELIABILITY ANDIMPROVE WATER MANAGEMENT OF DECLINING LOCAL GROUNDWATER AND IMPORTED WATER SUPPLIES.EVWD'S SERVICE AREA IS HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO DROUGHT CONDITIONS AND IS CURRENTLY RECEIVING ONLY A5% ALLOCATION FROM THE STATE WATER PROJECT. EVWD SERVES APPROXIMATELY 103,200 PEOPLE WITHNEARLY 70% LIVING IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES, AND DROUGHT EXACERBATES ISSUES OF WATERSUPPLY AVAILABILITY, DEGRADED WATER QUALITY, AND EFFECTS TO RESIDENTS' HEALTH AND WELL-BEING.
