THIS PROGRAM SEEKS TO UTILIZE QUALIFIED NON-PROFIT YOUTH AND VETERAN SERVING ORGANIZATIONS TO CARRY OUT APPROPRIATE NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION, EDUCATION, VOLUNTEER SERVICE AND EDUCATION PROJECTS ON DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR LANDS THROUGH AUTHORIZED NATIONAL PARK SERVICE PROGRAMS. THIS PROJECT ENGAGES YOUTH CREWS AT ISLE ROYALE NATIONAL PARK TO ASSIST WITH THE REHABILITATION OF THE FELDTMAN LAKE TRAIL AND CAMPGROUND, ALONG WITH BEGINNING WORK ON THE LANE COVE TRAIL. THE REHABILITATION EFFORTS WILL INCLUDE CORRIDOR BRUSHING, EROSION CONTROL, TRAIL GRADING, REMOVAL OF TRIPPING HAZARDS, AND REPAIRS TO BOARDWALKS AND SIGNAGE USING HAND TOOLS. TECHNIQUES WILL FOCUS ON CLEARING A SIX-FOOT-WIDE CORRIDOR, ENHANCING DRAINAGE TO PREVENT EROSION, AND REINFORCING TRAIL SECTIONS FOR IMPROVED DURABILITY.
