This program supports projects that further the mission of the national park service and efforts in natural and cultural resource conservation, protection, and environmental sustainability that are not covered under other specific financial assistance programs. The goal of this project is to promote resource stewardship and facilitate scientific research, partnerships and engagement in the three southern california national park units (cabrillo national monument, channel islands national park and santa monica mountains national recreation area). In partnership with the california wildlife foundation (CWF), activities such as natural resource monitoring and scientific investigation can provide much needed information to park managers and decision-makers. Scientific partnerships help to broaden the scope of ecologic understanding putting national park service (NPS) data into regional and global perspective. Scientific engagement provides park visitors with an appreciation for NPS resources and provides opportunities for the general public, especially youth, to contribute to our mission through resource stewardship. Beneficiaries include profit organizations, public nonprofit institutions organizations, private nonprofit institutions organizations, non-federal government entities, industry and public decision makers, research scientists, engineers, and the general public.
