RIGR IS A SISTER PARK TO THE RO BRAVO DEL NORTE NATURAL MONUMENT. THESE SIX CONSERVATION UNITS COMPRISE ONE OF THE LARGEST TRANSBOUNDARY PROTECTED AREAS IN NORTH AMERICA, (FOUNDATION DOCUMENT BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, 2016). COLLABORATION ON TOPICS SUCH AS VISITOR SERVICES AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IS A LONG-STANDING HIGH PRIORITY FOR THE STAFF OF THESE PARKS FROM BOTH AGENCIES.DESPITE OUR SHARED RESOURCES, CONSERVATION GOALS, AND COMMITMENTS TO BINATIONAL COLLABORATION, THE LOGISTICAL CHALLENGES OF MAINTAINING AN ACTIVE RELATIONSHIP ARE SUBSTANTIAL. MEETING ON THE RIVER HAS PROVEN TO BE THE MOST FEASIBLE WAY TO HAVE IN-PERSON MEETINGS AND HAS THE ADDED BENEFIT OF BEING THE MOST APPROPRIATE SETTING FOR DISCUSSING OUR SHARED RESOURCES AND MANAGEMENT GOALS. THIS FUNDING PROPOSAL WILL FACILITATE A MULTI-DAY RIVER-BASED MEETING.
