Description
15.944 natural resource stewardship the natural resource stewardship program is the principle means through which the national park service (NPS) evaluates and improves the health of watersheds, landscapes, and marine and coastal resources, sustains biological communities on the lands and waters in parks, and actively endeavors to improve the resiliency of these natural resources and adapt them to the effects of climate change. To carry out and further this stewardship responsibility, NPS implements programs that encompass a broad range of research, operational, and educational activities by utilizing park personnel and contractor support or cooperative agreements. Washington trails association, a 50L(c)3 non-profit, has the mission to preserve, enhance, and promote hiking opportunities in washington state through collaboration, education, advocacy, and volunteer and professional trail maintenance. The purpose of this task agreement is to build upon a program dedicated to recruitment, training, and the leading of volunteers and professionals in completing trail maintenance projects at noca in partnership with WTA. Providing the public an opportunity to give service to the backcountry locations at national parks in a structured program is the purpose of this program. Using relevant tools for recruitment, providing basic training, and providing leadership for the trail volunteers and professionals will be enhanced by an organization with preservation and rehabilitation experience in trail maintenance and a background promoting access and backcountry use in its mission. Beneficiaries include the general public.
