Description

Increasing awareness, surveillance, and latent tuberculosis in status adjusters as identified by civil surgeons - in partnership with a local civil surgeon, williamson county and cities health district (wcchd) will work to increase latent tuberculosis (ltbi) surveillance and treatment rates to prevent progression to tuberculosis (TB) disease in clients who have immigrated to the united states and are applying for citizenship, also known as status adjusters. In collaboration with the civil surgeon, wcchd will establish processes for data collection and reporting of ltbi cases among status adjusters and submit corresponding data to the CDC. With this data, pre- and post- intervention care cascades for ltbi will be created along with the development of a surveillance summary report. Along with the civil surgeon, wcchd will establish additional partnerships with various community organizations and status adjusters to form a stakeholder group to identify, develop, and plan for intervention implementations and evaluation with use of a GAP analysis. This will lead to production of an intervention evaluation report. Wcchd currently sees a large population of ltbi clients, primarily those who are foreign born. Many clients are uninsured or low-income. Referrals come from a variety of sources including civil surgeons, private practice providers and hospitals. By engaging with local civil surgeons, wcchd will increase capacity to identify, monitor, educate, and expedite connections to treatment to prevent TB disease in a high-risk population and contribute to the overall elimination of TB.
