Description

Influenza surveillance networks and response to seasonal and pandemic influenza: monitoring and maintenance, mexico. 2021-2022 - in mexico, the influenza surveillance system under the sentinel model was created in 2006; this model only performed epidemiological surveillance of influenza in outpatient cases. During the 2009 health contingency, influenza surveillance of ambulatory and hospitalized cases began in the 32 entities of the country. IT is estimated that influenza causes between three and five million severe cases and 290,000 to 650,000 deaths annually worldwide. The influenza epidemiological surveillance system (sisveflu) in our country has given good results, however, like any system, IT is necessary to reinforce IT through reengineering, based on the analysis of the processes and needs that arise in epidemiological surveillance, especially by applying the continuous improvement technologies for the quality of services; in the same way, IT is imperative to maintain laboratory diagnosis, for the characterization of circulating viruses in the national territory. For this reason, collaboration with international organizations such as mexico-united states foundation for science (fumec), through the implementation of projects has represented an important area of opportunity for strengthening the operation of the epidemiological and laboratory surveillance systems of influenza in our country for several years.projects that translate into specific surveillance actions for this disease that lead to the generation of epidemiological information for decision-making to guide control actions and mitigate potential damage to the health of the population.
