About this award
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) awarded a $1,000,000 Cooperative Agreement under the Congressionally Identified Awards and Projects program (CFDA 11.469) to The Nature Conservancy on April 1, 2025, for the "Advancing Coastal and Community Resilience" project. The two-year award period extends through March 31, 2027, and supports integrated coastal and marine resource management across the Hawaiian Islands.
The agreement funds four primary deliverables: (1) coordination and capacity-building for coral reef response and restoration partnerships through training programs, network development, and sustainable funding mechanism assessment; (2) monitoring surveys to evaluate coral reef health, abundance, and fisheries status; (3) watershed restoration activities designed to reduce sedimentation impacts to coral reefs; and (4) coastal habitat restoration efforts that restore native plant communities, minimize sedimentation, and support native food pathways.
