Feiro marine life center (feiro) is partnering with the olympic coast national marine sanctuary (ocnms) to build the marine discovery center facility

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) awarded a $15,000,000 Cooperative Agreement under the Marine Sanctuary Program (CFDA 11.429) to the Feiro Marine Life Center (FEIRO) in Port Angeles, Washington. The five-year award, effective January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2029, will support FEIRO's partnership with the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary (OCNMS) to build the new Marine Discovery Center facility. The planned interpretive center will help make OCNMS more accessible to the community by providing public education about marine habitats, wildlife, and indigenous cultures, while also strengthening ties between NOAA, Port Angeles, and the Olympic Coast Peninsula. This project is expected to have positive implications for the economic development of Port Angeles and the North Olympic Peninsula, in addition to the collective educational impact the campus entities will provide.
