PROJECT PROPOSED FROM MUSKEGON AREA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT: CREATING THE NEXT GENERATION OF GREAT LAKES STEWARDS WILL INCLUDE SCHOOLS IN MUSKEGON, NEWAYGO, OCEANA AND NORTHERN OTTAWA COUNTIES INVOLVING A MINIMUM OF 40 TEACHERS AND 1,500 STUDENTS, WITH A PER TEACHER COST OF $140 AND PER STUDENT COST OF $12 TO SUPPORT MEANINGFUL WATERSHED EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES (MWEES). THIS AREA IS CONNECTED TO THE LAKE MICHIGAN WATERSHED AS WELL AS SMALLER ONES, INCLUDING MUSKEGON RIVER WATERSHED, WHITE LAKE WATERSHED, MUSKEGON LAKE WATERSHED, JUST TO NAME A FEW AND INCLUDES RURAL, SUBURBAN, AND URBAN SCHOOLS.
