About this award
The San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (SFBNERR) received a $1.083 million cooperative agreement award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under the Coastal Zone Management Estuarine Research Reserves program (CFDA 11.420) for operations from July 1, 2021 through December 31, 2022.
The award will support SFBNERR's delivery of programs focused on research, education, and coastal training to advance the understanding and stewardship of the San Francisco Bay estuarine system. As one of 29 reserves established under the Estuarine Research Reserves program, SFBNERR will use the funding to operate its facilities as natural field laboratories for gathering data and conducting studies on the bay. Key activities will include environmental monitoring, K-12 education, and training professionals who make decisions affecting coastal resources. The award recipient, San Francisco State University, will manage the programs on behalf of SFBNERR through its Accounting Office.
