Description

Including partner owned infrastructure in the project will benefit BLM as available water from these water supplies can be leased for augmentation or irrigation at BLM properties. Repairing and upgrading infrastructure will safeguard the blms investment in water rights and ensure a sustainable water supply in the face of climate change. Further, ensuring the ability to divert and store water will improve flexibility of water and wetland management, which will in turn allow BLM to effectively manage and restore wetlands, provide and conserve core habitat, facilitate functioning natural processes, provide connectivity, and ensure climate-robust conditions. Finally, protecting and improving water management supports the local economy through improved hunting, fishing and other recreation opportunities, enhanced heritage and ECO-tourism possibilities, and protection of traditional uses.
