About this award

The University of Arizona was awarded a $349,950.60 Cooperative Agreement from the National and Regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CFDA 15.820) program of the U.S. Geological Survey. The goal of this 2-year project is to work with communities around the Great Salt Lake in Utah to understand their experiences with decreasing water levels and develop effective, inclusive plans for conserving lakes, saving culturally important places, and protecting public health. The project team will conduct four regional workshops, interviews, and listening sessions; produce a community report, policy brief, peer-reviewed journal articles, climate adaptation cards, and an online photo gallery; and organize two knowledge exchange events to share the research findings. Utah State University and the State University of New York will serve as subrecipients to execute the project's research objectives, including partnering with the non-profit organization Healthy Environment Alliance of Utah.
