The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services received a $3.62 million cooperative agreement award from the US Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service for the period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022. The award will support Virginia's operation of a meat and poultry inspection program to assure consumers have an adequate supply of safe, wholesome and properly labeled meat and poultry products. The Commonwealth of Virginia will operate its inspection program through the sub-awardee, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, to deliver inspection services that meet federal standards under this cooperative agreement.
