Lawrence plains focus area) identified by the 1988 north american waterfowl management plan (nawmp). The thousand islands land trust looks to advance the conservation goals of this plan via the permanent protection of two new tracts totaling approximately 82.8 acres within the ST. Lawrence river valley BCR-13, adding to the protection of vital breeding, staging and wintering habitat of waterfowl, shorebirds, waterbirds, land birds and other wildlife. With grant and match funds, tilt will buy, own and manage the 75 acre burns tract and the 7.8-acre buxton tract. 235-feet of highly-developable shoreline will be conserved with these acquisitions, which abut existing nawca-funded acquisitions and state park lands.
