About this award

This Cooperative Agreement award from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under the CFDA 15.608 Fish and Aquatic Conservation - Aquatic Invasive Species program will provide $2,716,744.00 to support the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) in developing two permanent watercraft inspection stations to prevent new introductions of aquatic invasive species to the Lake Tahoe region. One station will be located near the east shore of Lake Tahoe in Nevada, and the other near the south shore in California. The project aims to replace the current temporary inspection stations, which require annual setup and breakdown as well as obtaining seasonal permits and lease payments. The funding will enable TRPA to establish these permanent stations, building on the successful watercraft inspection program that has been in place at Lake Tahoe since 2008. This grant award supports critical environmental protection efforts focused on aquatic invasive species prevention and control within the Lake Tahoe Basin.
