Description
The idaho fish wildlife foundation (ifwf) is proposing to cooperate with the USFWS, idaho department of fish game, idaho governors office of species conservation, bureau of land management, department of energy, and the idaho national laboratory to enhance restore sagebrush steppe habitats within core and growth opportunity areas (per sagebrush conservation design) in eastern idaho within bingham, bonneville, jefferson and butte counties.restoration and enhancement of upland habitats are specifically needed to increase the resistance and resilience to invasive annual grasses, wildfires, and other natural disturbances. The idaho national laboratory landscape contains significant amounts of core and growth opportunity areas that have been identified as being critically important for long-term conservation of this biome and the flora and fauna IT supports. A large suite of sagebrush steppe obligates rely upon said habitat within the boundary of the idaho national laboratory to complete their life history strategies within this landscape. Partners propose to leverage investments towards conservation of this landscape through upland and mesic restoration activities including but not limited to herbicide application, revegetation (seed planting), low tech process based stream restoration, and other treatments as needed.
