Description
IT has not been located on laguna mountain since the 1990S. As part of a strategy to reintroduce laguna mountains skipper to its historical range, the cheroske meadow area was identified as the preferred location to release laguna mountains skippers translocated from palomar mountain and captive-reared pupae from adults collected at mendenhall valley were released there in 2021 and monitored through the 2022 flight season(s). For this project, additional females will be collected from mendenhall valley to obtain eggs that will be captive reared by the SAN diego ZOO to an appropriate endpoint for release (larvae or pupae). These individuals will then be released at cheroske meadow during 2024. For full details on the overall reintroduction plan and the release plan for cheroske meadow, see the associated approved plans. UWG proposes to provide general project coordination and reporting and to hire osborne biological consulting to undertake surveys and collect the wild LMS females.
