About this award

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) are collaborating under a 5-year, $14,426,000 Cooperative Agreement to manage the Chesapeake Watershed Investments for Landscape Defense (WILD) Program. Authorized by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Establishment Act, the program aims to conserve, steward, and enhance fish and wildlife habitats, build regional conservation capacity, and improve coordination among federal, state, local, and regional entities in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Through subawards, the program is supporting a range of projects focused on habitat restoration, species recovery, community engagement, urban conservation, land protection, and infrastructure to improve aquatic connectivity and water quality.

Description

Authorized by the national fish and wildlife foundation establishment act, 16 U.S.C. 3701 of 1984, nfwf will assist FWS by implementing year two of a competitive grant program with the goal of conserving, stewarding, and enhancing fish and wildlife habitats and related conservation values in the chesapeake BAY, building capacity of regional partners to address shared restoration and conservation priorities, and enhancing coordination among federal, state, local, and regional entities working toward shared goals for sustaining natural resources and human communities throughout the watershed.
