The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded a $26,183,795 Cooperative Agreement under the Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chain Demonstrations and Commercial Applications program (CFDA 81.253) to Cleanfiber Inc. (doing business as Procell Insulation) to establish an 83,000 square foot production facility in Ennis, Texas. The objective of this project is to produce an advanced form of carbon-storing cellulose insulation from recycled cardboard for use in residential retrofit and new construction applications. This facility will provide regional access to a domestically sourced, low-carbon building material, address gaps in the domestic cellulose insulation supply chain, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by enabling regional adoption of a carbon-negative insulation system. The award period runs from January 1, 2025 to December 12, 2025.
