Description
- Activities
- The next electric partnership will convene a steering committee of industry leaders to design a professionally facilitated virtual workshop. The workshop inputs will inform a technical roadmap to reduce cost by 10X and increase throughput by 10-100X for innovative low-cost, high-throughput superconductor manufacturing methods. The partnership will also establish an advisory committee to develop a 5-10 year vision, 7-year budget and action plan for an execution phase of the roadmap.
- Expected outcomes
- The roadmap produced by the next electric partnership will lead to an action plan for the stakeholders across many different economic sectors to achieve net-zero emissions. In addition to the roadmap produced, the project will support the next electric partnership in building out a full public-private-partnership to accelerate the manufacturing and commercialization of innovative energy platforms and reduce greenhouse emissions.
- Intended beneficiaries
- The project outcomes will benefit transportation, power generation, transmission and storage manufacturer by identifying barriers to the development and use of next generation technologies that can contribute to major reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
- Subrecipient activities
- The recipient plans to subaward funds to support a workshop development and facilitation (contract), and subawards to lead the technical aspects of the roadmap effort for 1) cables, cryogenics, and power conversion, 2) wind generators and aircraft motors, and 3) fusion energy segment.
