The Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service awarded a $124,686.25 cooperative agreement to Fresh Approach on March 1, 2026, under the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program (CFDA 10.175). The funding supports Three Sisters Kitchen, a multi-use community food space located in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, equipped with two commercial test kitchens for value-added food business training and incubation, product formula development, and small-batch production. Fresh Approach, a California-based nonprofit, operates from Concord and works to increase access to healthy foods and nutrition education in underserved communities through partnerships with local agriculture producers and farmers markets. The cooperative agreement runs through February 29, 2028. The FMLFPP supports development, coordination, and expansion of local and regional food systems by funding projects that develop direct producer-to-consumer markets and local food business enterprises to increase access to locally and regionally produced agricultural products.
