About this award

The award funds a supplemental agreement under an existing Good Neighbor Master Agreement to deliver forest health restoration and ecosystem management activities on National Forest System lands in Colorado. Primary deliverables include harvesting a minimum of 19,343 hundred cubic feet of timber; treating insect and disease-infected trees; reducing hazardous fuels through vegetation management; and performing restoration activities to improve forest and watershed health while increasing ecosystem resistance to insect infestations.

The cooperative agreement leverages Colorado State University's contracting procedures and technical capacity to expedite on-the-ground management activities in alignment with Executive Order 14225 (Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production) and Secretarial Memorandum 1078-006 (Increasing Timber Production on National Forest System Lands). As a Land Grant research institution with extensive experience managing federal natural resources projects, CSU will execute the project scope of work through its Sponsored Programs Division, combining field management activities with applied expertise to support the Forest Service's Wildfire Crisis Strategy and National Prescribed Fire Resource Mobilization Strategy objectives.
