Description
Rural alaska community action program, INC., (rural cap) seeks to promote justice and reduce delinquency rates for alaska native youth through the resource basket training and technical assistance center by 1) increasing tribal communities' and service providers' capacity to better meet alaska native youths' cultural needs and support their successful functioning through statewide training and technical assistance (TTA) services; and 2) providing culturally appropriate TTA and associated support to office of juvenile justice and delinquency prevention (OJJDP) tribal youth program and juvenile healing to wellness courts grantees in alaska. These projects will operate collaboratively, targeting youth-serving organizations and tribal communities, particularly in rural communities where the need and associated risk factors are the greatest. Project activities will include the maintenance of a strong statewide network of service providers and key stakeholders in youth-related fields that guide, build, and improve the resource basket TTA center (the resource basket) while promoting data-driven strategies, multi-disciplinary partnerships, and culturally appropriate tools and content. The resource basket will mobilize and connect subject matter experts in providing TTA to OJJDP grantees, tribal communities, and associated service providers through rural village/community-based training events, webinars, workshop presentations, teleconferences, videos, newsletters, list-serve announcements, and phone/email support. Ongoing stakeholder input and needs assessments will ensure the TTA approaches are alaska-specific, culturally appropriate, and meet the unique needs of the tribal communities.
