About this award
The U.S. Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) awarded a $300,000 Cooperative Agreement to Esperanza United, a non-profit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota. This 24-month award, which began on October 1, 2024, is a continuation of a previous grant (2016-TA-AX-K039) and supports the OVW Technical Assistance (TA) Initiative under CFDA 16.526.
Through this Cooperative Agreement, Esperanza United will provide training and technical assistance to OVW grantees and subgrantees to build their capacity to serve Latina victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The organization will deliver direct technical assistance, convene in-person and virtual trainings, conduct site visits, record podcasts, and maintain an online resource library. This project supports the TA Initiative's Purpose Area 8, which focuses on technical assistance for Latina-serving advocacy organizations.
Description
The office on violence against women (OVW) training and technical assistance (TA) initiative provides OVW grantees and subgrantees with the expertise and support they need to develop and implement successful state, local, tribal, and campus projects; increase victim safety; and bolster offender accountability. Through cooperative agreements, OVW supports educational initiatives, conferences, peer-to-peer consultations, and targeted assistance that allow current and potential grantees and subgrantees to learn from experts and one another about how to overcome obstacles and incorporate promising practices in their efforts to address violence against women. In addition, OVW is focused on building the capacity of the criminal and civil justice systems and victim service providers to respond effectively to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking and to foster partnerships between organizations that have not traditionally worked together to address violence against women. With FY 2024 TA initiative funding, esperanza united will continue its latina TA project. This project will provide training and technical assistance on building the capacity of organizations to serve latina victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Over the course of the project period, esperanza united will provide direct technical assistance, as well as convene in-person and virtual trainings, conduct virtual and on-site TTA visits, record podcasts for executive directors of culturally specific and mainstream organizations, and maintain an online library containing products, resources, and materials. This project supports FY 2024 TA initiative purpose area 8: technical assistance for latina-serving advocacy organizations. The timing for performance of this award is 24 months. This award is a continuation of 2016-TA-AX-K039.
