Description
The office on violence against women (OVW) training and technical assistance (TA) initiative provides OVW grantees and subgrantees with the expertise and support they need to develop and implement successful state, local, tribal, and campus projects; increase victim safety; and bolster offender accountability. Through cooperative agreements, OVW supports educational initiatives, conferences, peer-to-peer consultations, and targeted assistance that allow current and potential grantees and subgrantees to learn from experts and one another about how to overcome obstacles and incorporate promising practices in their efforts to address violence against women. In addition, OVW is focused on building the capacity of the criminal and civil justice systems and victim service organizations to respond effectively to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking and to foster partnerships between organizations that have not traditionally worked together to address violence against women. With FY 2023 TA initiative funding, justice innovation, INC. Doing business as center for justice innovation will continue to implement the domestic violence resource for increasing safety and connection (DV risc) project. This project will increase the effective use of intimate partner violence (IPV) risk assessments as part of coordinated responses to domestic violence homicide prevention and maintain a national online resource center. Over the course of the project period, justice innovation, INC. Will provide direct technical assistance related to risk assessment implementations, provide access to educational resources on IPV risk assessments, facilitate peer connections amongst jurisdictions to promote effective practices in risk assessment strategies, coordinate referrals to subject-matter experts, host roundtables on emerging issues, and develop a guidebook for the planning and implementation of IPV risk assessments. This project supports FY 2023 TA initiative purpose area 56: domestic violence homicide prevention risk and lethality assessment center. This award is for years 4 and 5 of a five-year comprehensive TA project, awarded competitively in FY 2020 and is a continuation of 2020-TA-AX-K029 (awarded to the fund for the city of new york/center for court innovation).
